Social tagging #10

I thought this was a really interesting assignment. I think this could be a valuable tool for libraries to provide reliable information for their patrons. I also how it could benefit students doing group work who could find and share material easily. I even learned a new word, folksomony or social tagging. I'll have to figure out how to use it in a sentence.

RSS Feeds #8-9

I liked the assignment about RSS feeds. The assignment about Flicker was interesting last week, and it's good to know a little bit about it. I don't think I'll get much use out of it though. The RSS feed gave me some practical information that I will use. I signed up for feeds about two personal interests: new blueberry recipes because we have eight blueberry bushes and way to many berries, the Boston Red Sox because you can never know too much about the Red Sox. Also, I signed up for HR updates since it applies to my job.

Technology related #7

According to information on MSN.com, the new version of Microsoft Office, version 2010, will be coming our way soon. It's interesting to think that a new version of office is already on its way when we're still getting used to Office 2007.

Flickr fun #6

I went to big huge labs.com and made a trading card from my son's wedding picture. This would be great for kids playing sports. Click here to see that one I made.

Flickr #5

The picture I've uploaded is from my son's wedding in October 2005. It was a beautiful, but cool, fall day. As you can see, we were all quite happy. All four of my children were involved in the wedding. It was a lovely ceremony and the reception was a lot of fun. Next year, we'll do it again when my daughter, Amanda, gets married.

Lessons for life long learners #1-2

I'm very interested in working my way through "23 things." I don't use web 2.0 technology very much either at work or in my personal life. It will be challenging and interesting to become more familiar with the technology and terminology. I think it's important to understand the basics of these programs. I enjoyed watching the lessons for life long learners. I know I've always learned best in a formal setting such as a classroom. I've never taken an online class so this will be challenging for me. I'm looking forward to it.
